1/2DW Class Item

Yesterday, 1/2DW did a brilliant job performing our class item at assembly. We have been reading in the Bible about Creation. This song is all about what God made.

Dr Seuss Survey

This term we have been studying Dr Seuss.
His books are amazing and some of them have even been made into movies!

Fulcrums, levers and pulleys

Today we joined up with some 2F students and learnt about how people lift heavy things using simple machines. Levers make moving things easier. A seesaw is an example of a level and it has a fulcrum to help balance it.

We made a lever using a pencil, a ruler, sticky tape and playdough.

First we put the fulcrum in the middle and needed to use the same amount of playdough.

Next we changed the fulcrum to make the lever uneven and used different amounts of playdough. It was fun!

Computer Time!

What happens when you give 1/2DW the option of doing Mathletics or Tux paint?  Most of them choose Tux Paint! It is a fun program that allows you to colour in, draw, stamp, write and have a lot of fun by pressing a lot of different buttons.

Some students still chose Mathletics though! 

Time to Celebrate

It has been a huge week in 1/2DW as we celebrated the birthday's of Charlotte and Ariana. We enjoyed sharing some yummy cupcakes that both girls brought in on their birthday.

Today, we also celebrated the achievements of some of our students when our librarian, Mrs McGinnes presented awards for amazing work in Library this term . Congratulations to Zack, Jye, Kieran, Ariana, Sian and Charlotte who achieved these awards.

Sports Time

Today we did rotating groups for sports time with 1H and 2F. It was so fun! We will finish our groups next week.

Excursion photos Part 2

On 24th May, the rest of 1/2DW and 1H got to go on our excursion to Wollondilly Heritage Centre. We had so much fun rotating around each group and learning about what life used to be like before electricity, computers and washing machines!
