Mission IS possible!

On Friday 31st August Mount Annan Christian College will be holding their annual 'Missions Day'.

Missions Day raises money for various missions the schools support. It is also a fun day for the school community.

Students are encouraged to dress up in mufti clothes for a donation of $2.
The theme for the mufti will be M. The class have already thought of some things starting with 'M' that they could dress up as, including a marshmallow, a mermaid, themselves (me) and even a marsupial!

Missions day officially starts at 11:35 with a Thanksgiving service.

After the service, there will be a variety of stalls and activities for the students to enjoy and we welcome any parents and friends to stay for an extended lunch and enjoy the afternoon with the students.

There will even be a car wash! Call the office on 46347474 to book in your car for a cost of $10 or 4WD for $15.

A note has been sent home giving details of the stalls and costs. We have included a picture of this note on the blog. If you need another note sent home, please ask either one of us or see Student Admin.

We look forward to this exciting day.

Symmetry

Today we looked at symmetry. We found it is easier to create a mirror image by pressing a sheet against the window and tracing the image. It was fun!

Book Parade

Today we had our Junior School Book Parade with the theme of 'Champions Read'. All our students and teachers got dressed up as a book character or a champion sportsperson.
1/2DW were absolutely sensational. We all put so much effort into our costumes and were very excited for the parade. We had to wait for a while for our class to be called and the anticipation was building but we were a stand out class on the day! (or so Mrs Wadds says!)
Well done to all of 1/2DW for a great day and congratulations to Nathanael and Emily T for winning the prize for their costumes.

Book Fair

Ok, hold tight onto your wallets and purses, because 1/2DW visited the Book Fair today!

We made wish lists and some of them are quite long!

If you are coming to the Book Parade, you can head down to the Book Fair after it finishes from 12.20-1.40pm or if you can't make it, feel free to send in your details or some money with your child. Their wish list will have the book or item that they liked and how much it costs.

We also spoke about the fact that not all children will be able to purchase things at the book fair.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Listening to Reading

Today we used the iPads to listen to ourselves read. (Kaitlyn)

We read our 'Good Fit' books and then listened to ourselves read. (Zack)

I liked using the iPads because they listen to us. (Shayden)

It sounded weird when I heard myself read. (Keeley)

We do this to get better at fluency. (Kaitlyn)

I can't wait to have my turn tomorrow. (Emily A)

Here is a link to show you why we listen to ourselves read.

Whole School Church Time

Today we had a whole school church time. We a played 'What is it?'

Then we watched a Finding Nemo clip where Nemo has to be courageous.

We listened to Mr Loadsman speak about being a servant and Operation Christmas Child.

Mr Nightingale handed out Honour Awards and a boy and a girl from Junior School received one.

Mrs Pope spoke from Joshua 10:8 and we found out that Joshua asked God to make the sun stand still and it did!

He had faith and God blessed him. We can ask God to help us whenever we need it!
