iPads for all!

Today we used the iPads in the classroom for some word processing. We then had a bit of fun with an app where you can create your own cartoon.
I am not afraid to say that the children taught me something new! What's that saying about teaching an old dog new tricks?!
What a clever group of kids we have in 1/2DW

Puck-Wudgie?

Puck-Wudgie
Today 1/2DW read a great description. We then had to draw it. We have learnt that Descriptions use lots of adjectives which are describing words.

This character’s name is Puck-Wudgie. It has a fat head, big bulgy eyes with long eyelashes, a pig-like nose, and a wide mouth with a big silly grin. On its enormous ears it has long dangling earrings with frills. Its hair and neck are both long. It has a round stomach with a little belly button, four stubby arms and two stubby legs. It loves to dance all night to punk music.
We then tried to write a short description of a character from a book. He is a dog named Sonny.
Sonny is a big shaggy black dog. He lives with his owner Sandy. Sonny likes to chase cats and he likes men.
Sonny chases cats too far which upsets his owner, Sandy. He is a good dog.

Operation Christmas Child

Today we started packing our Operation Christmas Child boxes.
Each box contains something to love, something to wear, something for hygiene, something to play with, something for school and something special.
The class had a great time packing the boxes. Some of the items were too big for the boxes so we will be sending them back home with the students as the price of shipping the boxes over is quite high and many students brought in more than one of their specified items.
Thank you for supporting this amazing charity. We believe this is an excellent way to help the students learn more about kids in need and share the love of Jesus.

3D shapes continue...

A big part of learning in Maths is hands on activities. Today we used a variety of activities to draw and make 3D shapes. Hands on activities also promotes Maths related dialogue.

1/2DW, what was your favourite activity?
