The past two weeks of Term, 1/2DW have started learning about the Olympics. We have talked about what we already know about the Olympic Games such as:

·         They do high jump and swimming (Kaitlyn)

·         They do heaps of sport in it (Zack)

·         They run and jump (Luca)

·         The people who compete in the Olympics are called Olympians (Joshua)

·         They try their best in everything to get a gold medal (Shayden)

·         The train to get a gold medal

·         Olympians compete for their country

·         These Olympics are held in London, England (Mikinley)

·         The Olympics are held every 4 years (Mrs Wadds)

·         I think your only allowed to be a young adult that’s 18 (Kieran)

·         They do gymnastics (Eliza)

·         They do lots of sporty stuff (Sian)

 and then we wrote down some things we would like to find out, such as:

·         How many countries are in the Olympics (Emily A)

·         What time do they need to get to qualify (Kieran)

·         Can young boys and girls do the Olympics? (Luca)

·         Do they do long jump? (Keeley)

We then made Elzy cards and posters to encourage her to do her best. These arrived in London last Thursday and Mrs Wadds received feedback that Elzy loved her letters and pictures! Eloise competed in the 10000m race (10km!) this morning and ran very well. You can watch her race in the 5000m on Tuesday.

We are so excited about the Olympics that we have named our tables after countries. Of course, everyone wanted to be Australia so we chose different countries and have New Zealand, France and Africa. Yesterday, New Zealand won the table points for the week. I wonder who will win next week?!
